i live in new orleans, but have only been here for a year. i want to bring some of my California friends king cakes because i will be spending mardi gras with them instead of in new orleans.

i've heard gambino's and randazzo's are ranked pretty high, and i agree they're great, but what else is out there? i really want them to try the ideal king cake, whatever that may be.

thanks!

If you have to do Randazzo's go to Manny. Jo-el (Camellia) has gotten so full of herself and has ignored the quality of her product for some time. I have gotten half raw king cakes from her bakery. Stick with Gambino's or Haydel's, they put out a nice product. Maurice's French Pastries is supposed to have really nice king cakes as well as the authentic French king cakes.

McKenzie's hands down! Tastee Donuts bought all the recipes, so go load up on turtles and meringue kisses too!

McKenzie's are also pretty good. The only thing is they went out of business so your going to have to go to some other place that sells them. I think some Tastee's doughnut shops sells them!

Have FUN!!
