What is the water in Lake Pontchartrain like?

I'm writing a book and I need to know what the water in Lake Pontchartrain looks like, up close. I've seen pictures and it looks blue but I know that the water can look different over the side of a boat. If a person was leaning over the edge of the boat or the bridge, or just standing on the shore, what's the clarity and color of the water like? Is it clear, hazy?

Brown. Seriously, when you're close it's brown. When I'm on the Twin Span or the Causeway and have a big view it can look blue on some days, but most of the time it just looks brown to me.

Freakin dirty brown water.....i fell on time in it and drank a Super dirty water.......THE WORST WATER EVER
