It's the best city ever. I've lived here for 11 years, and I can't get enough of it.

There are plenty of jobs and services are abailable (ultilities, health care, schools, restaurants, shopping, leisure,etc...). The only problem is housing - right now it's at a premium

i've been all over the U.S.

and new orleans is by far one of the best cities. it has something no other city has. Culture. the Cajuns, Cajun and creol food, jazz blues and zydeco music. the seafood, Crawfish boils, the festivals. the cajun language. the traditions. Ghost huntings and voodoo. River boat cruises, Mardi Gras, alligators and crabbing. Bourbon street and the French Quarter. Harry Connic jr. Their famous drink the hurricane. Their buildings are hundreds of years old and have such history behind them. The spanish and french architecture is is amazing. when you step into the city you can smell something special in the atmosphere, and its beautiful

aeibrean23 - naw.. its still great .. and its getting up there again. its just 2 parishes the lower ones that got flooded and the worst of it. new orleans will come back nicely =)

Actually, this is kind of in response to the reply that there were no jobs in N.O. That is simply not true. There are pages and pages of jobs in the Times Picayune. Housing, well that's tough to come by, esp. since Katrina. But Burger King was offering thousands of dollars of bonus money to get people to work there in New Orleans. I live in Lake Charles, Louisiana, but am about to move to the New Orleans area b/c my husband has a job there. We've gotten lots of New Orleans people in Lake Charles since Katrina, and every time a client from N.O. comes in to the clinic where I work, they talk about the city. One woman told me that there are 10 pages of ads for employment and 1 single ad for housing (in the city). You can, however, find housing on what's called the North Shore (of Lake Ponchatrain) in towns such as Hammond, Covington, Mandeville, but they're pretty expensive as far as prices in Louisiana go. A lot of people who work in N.O. live outside of the city, either on the North Shore, or in Metairie or Kenner or places like that. One of my sorority sisters lives there and she loves it. We met at college in Natchitoches, and she moved back right after graduating. Hope this helps!

It was. I lived there for 8 yrs. It's a wonderfully vibrant place. Now I do not know. There is less work. No $. No housing. Stay away.
